    Hi, I’m the guy that made the tutorial!

    Gradients cannot be applied to text, just vectors.

    The problem with drop shadows in Flash is that even if you set the strength to be 1000%, it always keeps sort of a soft feel to it and I don’t like how that looks. Plus, if you are going to animate your text I recommend you use outlines against filters.

    You can apply the method to any font you like :) , It looks a lot better on cartoon fonts tho.

    Nice tutorial!
    -Like your accent XD
    -Couldn’t you apply the gradient before you split the letters up to save some work?
    -Isn’t the drop shadow just like the outline thing you did before? (I use Photoshop more often than Flash)
    -By cartoon I was expecting something more like Comic Sans MS lol. But nice tutorial none the less, gonna try this effect one day.
